SUMMER'S LAST BREATH - West Island said Good-Bye to the last sunset of The Summer of 2016 - Wednesday - September 21, 2016 at 642PM. This video from The West Island Weather Station KA1WBH - North Point at 340ft - looking toward the causeway, Sconticut Neck, Long Island and Dartmouth-New Bedford on the horizon at 720PM. Summer had about 15 hours left at the time of this sunset. What was mostly a bland murky sky all day, we didn't expect much of a sunset either, but an incredible surprise emerged as the sky turned into an inferno of bright oranges and purples. The temperature was 71.5 and the humidity was high at 82%. The ocean temperature was 67.3 degrees. The wind was out of the west at 3 MPH - almost flat calm.
