The capsized boat could be seen from the dock, but upon arrival, the boater could not be found. He was later rescued from the rocky edge of Hoppy's Point. The wind was blowing out of the southwest up to 30 knots at the time of the incident, Monday, September 4, 2017 at 1PM. The only person on the boat was pulled to safety by Harbormaster Todd Cox and assistant Richard Dube. The victim, Jeremy Messier of Dartmouth, did not require any hospitalization by the Fairhaven Fire Dept which responded to the scene. Mr Messier was happy to see his wife and retrieve his boat. *ML's Note: When the boat capsized off Hoppy's Landing - the boater tried to get his rudder back while his vessel drifted out of reach in the 30 knot winds.
