The weather window for the long awaited "shipment" of this Wilbur's Point cottage from Fairhaven, MA to nearby Mattapoisett, MA arrived Thursday morning on Nov 5 around 930AM. Unfavorable weather and sea conditions caused over a 2 week delay. Apparently it was well worth the trouble, the cottage was purchased for ONE DOLLAR!

This West Island sunset video captures the first dusk of Daylight Saving Time. Sunday, November1st, 2009. This is one of the earliest days for daylight saving time, as the first Sunday of November is the time to set the clocks back an hour. Some of the most spectacular New England sunsets can be photographed this time of year. The angle of the sun along with arriving and departing storm clouds add to the excitement even to the most novice photographer. In this photo shoot, I  gambled with a low light - harsh light scenario- I used a Sony Hybrid DCR-SR220. This camera is the workhorse for the West Island Weather Station for both video and still photos.

An October 22nd sunrise at West Island, Fairhaven, MA 0755hrs reveals a beautifully defined aurorae ring indicating moisture in the air. If this was mid-winter this signature would be a possible pre-cursor to an impending snowfall. West Island Weather Station SkyCam East: http://www.westislandweather.com/skycamnoaaradio.htm

The 2009 Fall Foliage Season appears to be at it's peak on this mild Oct 22, 2009 day in the West Island State Reservation trail. This is the main trail that will take you to the northeast corner of the park. At the end you can see the shoreline of Mattapoisett in the distance. Pardon the bumpy shots. I rode in on my GMC Skywarn Mountain Bike "TOTO" (recently restored from a crash last month). Held the camera with one hand and held the handle bars with other. The cottage that was destined to be hauled by barge to it's new location in Mattapoisett, MA had a change of plans. The barge operators and house mover thought it safe to tow it into New Bedford's inner harbor., considering the pick up in wind and rough water. The plans are to tow the barge with house to Lindberg Marine in Fairhaven and await better weather that's expected to arrive after a potent Sou'easter storm anticipated Saturday. Saturday's forecast Showers. Locally heavy rainfall possible in the afternoon. Breezy and not as cool with highs in the mid 60s. Chance of rain near 100 percent. Saturday Night: Showers with a chance of thunderstorms in the evening...Then a chance of showers after midnight. Locally heavy rainfall possible in the evening. Breezy with lows in the upper 40s. Chance of rain 90 percent.:
