Throw Back "THUNDERSTRUCK' Thursday:
24 YEARS AGO I WON A WHOLE LOT OF STUFF FROM THE WEATHER CHANNEL
The Weather Channel had a weather trivia contest called "Thunderstruck". If you answered 5 weather trivia multiple choice questions in a row correctly you'd win a prize.
After winning well over 400 prizes, from Weather Channel logo emblazoned umbrellas, sports water bottles, to beach bags, and t-shirts., The Weather Channel conceded that I won the most prizes in the country. On August 9, 1991,The Standard-Times sent over ace photographer, Jack Iddon to take a snapshot of some of my winnings at the Fairhaven-Acushnet Cablevision TV Studio. He climbed up a studio ladder to get the wide angle photo.
Like a bolt out of the blue, The Weather Channel cancelled the contest "Thunderstruck" shortly thereafter. (They probably ran out of prizes-LOL)
10 days after the photo was taken, I was out in Hurricane Bob which struck on August 19, 1991. MLBaron Historic Archives
