Sunset from West Island, Sunday, January 12, 2014. 430PM. It was like West Island lost a son today. We all got involved in the search for Dana everyday since Dec 31st, and never gave up.
The sun sets this evening with closure and deep sympathy to the family of Dana Dourdeville as well as others that were recently lost doing what they love. I got to know Dana's dad and asked him the other day if he was prepared for the worse, he mentioned that he needed closure more than anything. As a dad myself with a son the same age I humbly think "There but for the Grace of God, go I".
I don't understand the word closure for something like this. It's going to take a lifetime for me to figure out how that single word can remedy the incomprehensible pain Dana's Mom and Dad are going through. Perhaps we start the healing by looking at a simple sunset and contemplate the gift of another sunrise we'll see the morning after. All I can say, at this point, we tried, ....we tried.
