Waves Frozen In Time, Jan 8, 2014
This photo illustrates how cold it got at the peak of our recent cold snap to the single digits due to the so called "polar-vortex" event . You can see ice shaped waves from a cold northwest wind that eventually froze the wave action into this curious ice pattern. Winter Polar Vortex episodes come with the turf this time of year, but it was hyped up due to the area of the country it covered. In contrast - just 72 hours from when this photo was captured, areas around Buzzards Bay may see temperatures reaching 55 degrees by Saturday after a rain/snow event tomorrow - ( Friday 1-10-2014) . West Island Weather Station Axis Cam at South Point.
